22 Czars And Counting...

Nancy-Ann DeParle
DeParle will be responsible for ensuring that America's health system is overhauled this year. Never mind that she had to leave board member posts at Boston Scientific, Medco Health Solutions and Cerner. Conflict of interest? Obama thinks not.

Senator Mark Warner
Senator Mark Warner
Is Congress Waking Up?

My good Senator, Mark Warner, emailed me a copy of his recent editorial in the Washington Post titled "A Risky Choice for A Risk Czar" in which he lays out the case that President Obama's increased job description for Timothy Geithner and his Federal Reserve which he is proposing be tasked with regulating institutions deemed "too big to fail" is too big a risk. Warner's counter proposal is that a Systemic Risk Council be created including representatives from the Federal Reserve, the Treasury and other regulatory agencies. While I am not fully on board with either proposal I am glad to see that my senator is proposing alternative solutions.

Dear Hon Warner:

Thank you for emailing me your Washington Post editorial regarding creating a systemic risk council to oversee the Federal Reserve.

First, as a sidebar, I must take issue with your statement that we are currently in the longest and deepest recession since the Great Depression. If my BA in History was warranted, the Jimmy Carter era tops what we are seeing today - so far.

That being said, I am interested in learning more about your proposal to curtail the expansion of powers of the Federal Reserve of which I am in agreement.

In fact, I prefer a position that reduces the power of the Government as much as possible and returns the charge of economic stability to the People. The solutions to the current "fiscal crisis" as implemented by the Federal Government over the past 8 months have not resulted in a reversal of job losses, reduction in home foreclosures or improvement in consumer confidence. My guess is the upswing in stock prices in March will be written in history as a true "dead cat bounce" with further declines by this fall and increasingly unwielding interest rates and hyperinflation. Removing the Federal Government from the equation and instead relying on the market economy to fix the problem is the best solution, in my opinion. I realize this may give Government nothing to do, but that is more than likely, in the immortal words of Martha Stewart, "a good thing."

Notwithstanding, I am open to your suggestion of a Systemic Risk Council albeit with an independent chair not appointed by the President (who has no understanding of economics) but appointed instead by Congress. This will ensure that the voice of the People is at least entertained, if not heard. Obama has yet to prove himself a good listener - if a listener at all.

Thank you for thinking independently from our President - I am not an approver of the powers he has placed within Timothy Geithner's purview including control of the 2010 Census. Maybe you can do something about that too.

Regards,

Obama Sends John McCain to Thwart North Korea

Who's Your Daddy?

In a serendipitous twist of fate, President Obama and his US Navy is sending the destroyer USS John McCain out to intercept the North Korean "warship" of sorts, the Kang Nam.

Suspected of carrying missiles or warheads or some such nonsense potentially being targeted in the vicinity of Hawaii, the Kang Nam is currently traveling down China's east coast with United Nations aerial tracking all the way to where, we don't really know. But if the Kang Nam begins causing trouble, John McCain's little warship will intercept.

He may not be President and in charge of international relations, but Senator John McCain is still the go-to guy when the Axis of Evil presents itself. Just don't call him "sir."

Health of Democratic Women in Decline

Sotomayor Breaks Ankle
Sotomayor Shows Off Her Broken Ankle
Bones, Breaks and Bombs

What is it with the weak skeletal structures of our liberal women? First, Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor breaks an ankle in the airport on her way to our nation's capital. (President Obama's desire to see her "ascend[s] those marble steps to assume her seat on the highest court of the land" is clearly in jeopardy as she will now be forced to take the elevator. Just don't cal her ma'am.)

Now we have Madam Secretary of State Hillary Clinton busting up her elbow during a slip and fall accident (where is skeevy John Edwards when you need a good trial lawyer?) on her way to the White House forcing her to cancel a week's worth of scheduling including a meeting with Angelina Jolie. Now that just sucks!

I find Clinton's tough break more inconvenient that Sotomayor's as Clinton has to get ready to do some serious international talkin' 'bout Iran and other important stuff like North Korea threatening to plop another missile in the Pacific Ocean this time in the direction of President Obama's former home state of Hawaii. Just don't call her ma'am either.

More important than that though is what are we US Americans to make of this apparent decline in the health of the American Democrat woman? Is it menopause run amock? The lack of enough meat in their vegan diets? Are their bodies preemptively shutting down in preparation for Obamacare? After all, death will be better than those taxes.

And that's the word of the day. - WOTDO
