Televison, Taxes and Trouble During Obama's Sunday Tour of Television! he was challenged by none other than George Stephanopoulos when the discussion touched on the proposal that the Federal Government fine Americans who do not have health insurance.
Stephanopoulos: "Under this mandate, the government is forcing people to spend money, fining you if you don't. How is that not a tax?"
Obama: "...for us to say that you've got to take a responsibility to get health insurance is absolutely not a tax increase... We're not gonna have other people carrying your burdens for you."
We're not gonna have other people carrying your burdens for you????
So what do you call FICA, Medicare, Medicaid, Welfare and Food Stamps? Do these programs not require people to carry the burdens for others? Are our mandated Federal taxes a tax or not? Are our mandated FICA taxes a tax or not? Are our mandated Medicare taxes a tax or not? All three of these income-related "fines" (and the myriad of others that the Feds charge us for from everything from using a cell phone to drinking Jim Beam) are levied in order to take money from one party and give it to another. Why do we pay all these taxes? Because the Government says so.
But rest assured those of ye who are currently counted amongst the 16 - 18% real unemployment pool. The President promises that those who are unable to afford their own health insurance will not be charged the fine and will instead have their health insurance subsidized by the Federal Government.
Ah - subsidies! That sounds so nice. Until you realize that subsidies are funded through fining those that can afford health insurance (based on the Government looking at your income and not your obligations) but choose to opt out of it, by allocating fees collected through a public option and by taxing those nasty rich people who have so-called "Cadillac" health insurance policies. I'm not sure if calling them "Cadillac" promotes the quality of the Cadillac brand helping out Bailout Bingo GM or instead discourages would-be Cadillac buyers to opt for some other vehicle. I just don't want to be targeted by the Feds when I shop at Victoria's Secret is all I'm saying...
So is a fine for not having health insurance a tax? Well, duh. Of course it is! You have to pay to get it - you have to pay not to get it. Because the Government says so.
And that's the word of the day. - WOTDO

Nancy Pelosi displayed an acute case of psychopathy when she bitch-slapped the tea baggers yesterday during her cry-fest press conference saying "Our country is great because people can say what they think and they believe... But I also think that they have to take responsibility for any incitement that they may cause." Little Billy: "Why does this make Speaker of da House Pelosi a Psychopath?" Miss Martha: "Because Little Billy, Bitch-Slapper Pelosi was psychopathic when she called us all Nazis. Did you ever stuff Jews into an oven and roast them for dinner?" Little Billy: "No ma'am." |

In Congress's and the President's noble efforts to ensure that all Americans have health coverage they have included in the numerous iterations of their health bill a stipulation that Americans are required to have health insurance. Those who choose not to buy health insurance will be fined by the Federal Government, those who can afford it will pay for it and those who can't will be subsidized by those who are paying their fair share and then some. At any rate, despite the unfairness of what is truly socialized health care, there is potentially an enormous unintended consequence of this provision. Increasing abortions. Young, single women who may not be fearful of raising a child on their own will reconsider if they can't afford the required health coverage mandated by the Feds. Parents who are newly expecting and strapped for cash will find themselves considering abortion or, God forbid, infanticide over diapers and another car seat. On the other hand, childless couples seeking to adopt can always promote themselves as "Pick Us - We're Able to Afford Federal Health Coverage!" And that's the word of the day. - WOTDO

Dear Hon. Wolf: I do not support the Democrats requirement that Rep. Joe Wilson apologize to Congress for his statement during President Obama's arrogant, condescending and lie-filled Presidential address Wednesday night. Joe Wilson spoke on behalf of his constituents as well as me when he called President Obama a liar that night. President Obama did lie - he lied to you, he lied to Congress and he lied to me and the rest of America. I find it unacceptable that President Obama can reprimand the Republicans in Congress during a national address without consequences, Harry Reid could call President Bush a liar on multiple occasions without being forced to apologize and President Obama encourages his supporters to “get in my face” and tells YOU to get out of his way so that he “can clean up the mess.” I'm tired of the apologies coming from Senators John Mccain, Mitch McConnell and the Republican Party. Now is not the time for apologies – now is the time for a serious offensive. I expect the Republicans in Congress to stand alongside Rep. Wilson in refusing to apologize. In doing so, if the Democratically controlled Ethics Committee deems that Rep. Wilson be censured than I want ALL Republicans censured. If we are unwilling to stand behind our own, we stand for nothing. I have just donated to Rep. Wilson's campaign fund. Best regards, WOTDO
